Devil May Cry 3. This is where the fun begins. Devil May Cry 3 is where DMC makes its return as we come back with a prequel featuring a much younger and crazier Dante. This is Dante like I hadn't seen in the previous 2 games, and while the immediate shift was slightly jarring, I ended up loving this character SO much more because of this game Pros:

Nico is literally my favorite character in five and she doesn’t really get any backstory explained in the game but she has incredible personality. The stories in devil may cry 1,3,4,5 are all serviceable, 3 is borderline really good though. None of the others i would say are actually good of course but they are certainly better than the reboot.

Here in Devil May Cry, you get that same edgy feel and is near theatrical quality at times. The action is amazing to watch and has a wide range. There are gun fights, bazooka fights, explosions, bombs, car chases, sword duels, hellacious magic, possession, devils on earth and the undead.

This first novel of the two Devil May Cry novels takes place predating Devil May Cry 3, which is a prequel to Devil May Cry 1. The novel is meant to end where Devil May Cry 1 begins, but that's because it was written and published about three years before the release of Devil May Cry 3. However, when fans saw the trailer for DmC: Devil May Cry, the vast majority of the DMC community reacted with overwhelming negativity towards the reboot. The new version of Dante portrayed by Ninja Theory struck all the wrong chords with most fans. In DmC: Devil May Cry, Dante is much darker, with a punk/goth aesthetic and nihilistic attitude.
